Midwinter House Plant Care
With the holidays behind us, it's a good time to check houseplants and make sure they're doing all right through the doldrums of midwinter. First, make sure the soil is adequately moist. If possible, move the plant to a sink and fill the top of the pot with water and let it drain. Repeat several times to leach out accumulated salts. While you're at it, wipe or rinse any dust from the foliage and take a close look for insect pests like mealy bugs or scale. Remove dead or yellowing foliage.
To be sure plants have adequate nutrients and protection from insect pests, use Bayer Advanced™ . You can also use Bayer Advanced™ to kill insects on your houseplants on contact.
Before you return the plant to its original position, ask yourself if it is really the best spot. If the plant hasn't been healthy, you may want to move it away from drafts or heater vents, or place it where it gets more or less light.
